At TERA, protecting your information is a priority. We use encryption and access-control technologies designed to help secure your files during storage, transfer, and collaboration.
TERA's published documentation identifies AES-256 encryption as part of its data protection approach.
Encryption at rest protects stored information, while encryption in transit protects information as it moves between systems. These are different security requirements and should not be confused with end-to-end encryption.
TERA provides sharing features that help users control access to files and folders, including:
Password-protected sharing links.
Link expiration dates.
Access permissions.
Workspace member roles.
The available controls depend on the sharing method and account features.
To protect your account:
Create a strong, unique password.
Enable two-factor authentication.
Review active account sessions.
Avoid sharing account credentials.
Remove unnecessary access permissions.
TERA Drive is designed for everyday file storage and collaboration.
TERA Vault is described as an environment for sensitive files requiring end-to-end encryption.
The security characteristics of these environments may differ. Users should review the applicable encryption, key-management, and recovery information before storing sensitive data.
Encryption does not eliminate every security risk.
Recipients may retain files they have already downloaded, and access controls cannot replace responsible handling of sensitive information.
